Module Description
Based on the lecture modules, the students acquire in-depth knowledge of special subjects from the entire finance and insurance field, which is used to analyze current problems. They train analytical and argumentative skills, learn strategies and methods of scientific working and apply them in the preparation and defense of their own seminar paper. The students acquire skills regarding the critical reflection of scientific literature and develop their own research questions. They gain knowledge of presentation techniques and use them in the oral defense of their seminar paper.
Registration
The enrollment for this seminar is only possible via the "Studieninfonetz" (STiNE) of the University of Hamburg. Note that the seminar registration deadlines usually deviate from the regular deadlines. Please inform yourself about the exact dates at the Business Administration’s study office. It is up to you to independently inform yourself about the seminar’s creditability for your degree program. If you have any questions regarding registration, please contact your responsible study office.
Course Materials
Seminar materials can be found under the tab "Downloads." All downloads are access protected. You need your student UHH ID to access the documents. Possibly, the files are additionally protected with a password. In this case, the password will be announced in advance to all participants via STiNE messages.
Seminar Schedule
The topic assignment and an introduction to scientific working will take place during the kick-off event. The chair offers individual consultation appointments during the course. Furthermore, errors of previous seminars are reviewed in an "error-presentation." Participants must submit a progress report before the submission of the final seminar paper. During the final block event, presentation and discussion of the seminar papers will take place. The schedule and the topic list can be found under the tab "Downloads." Please note the stated mandatory attendance requirement.
